Tom's bio

Current speech topics include:

Around the World in Security--  A lively one hour discussion of the key security rules, regulations, customs, best practices that you’re likely to face, and illustrative stories for key countries around the world, including countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Secrets and Stories of Mapping Security--  A behind the scenes look at the situations and stories that went into the research and writing of Mapping Security.  A fun one hour tour of some of the more interesting and unique aspects of corporate security in many different countries where you may be doing business.  Fun but important information to know for organizations working around the world today.

Global Security for Everybody Else--  A comprehensive high-level look at global security for managers, salespeople, executives, and board members--  everybody buy your security person!  The six key security difference makers that need to be understood throughout a company, discussed in pure business terms such as return on investment, impact on global sales, time to market, outsourcing operations, and regulatory compliance.

Global Security for the Security Industry
--  Discussion and explanation of security rationales in different markets around the world.  Focus is on unique local security drivers by country, differences in business priorities by geography, and current trends and attitudes toward security that could prove crucial to organizations trying to sell their products and services outside the U.S.

Security Implications of Corporate Governance Around the World
--  A fast moving one hour discussion of over a dozen different Corporate Governance rules and regulations around the world, focusing on the information security aspects.  From the US’s Sarbanes-Oxley act with it’s Section 404, to South Africa’s King-2, to France’s LSF, and the various new governance rules throughout Asia, this is the critical time for all components of a global business (not just the CFO and legal department) to understand the business implications of this number one global security driver.

SecurityNG
--  What is coming next in security around the world, where is it coming from, who is driving it, what are the benefits, and when will it arrive.  This one hour discussion looks at the Next Generation of security, it’s implications and opportunities, as will be available with the coming rollout of IPv6, better known as the Next Generation Internet.  This is a must for anybody that thinks they have a handle on security today, but doesn’t yet understand the risks and rewards the IPv6 that is already running underneath the covers of their networks right now!

Information Security Recommendations for the Bush Administration--  This one hour discussion proposes five key actions that the current administration should take in order to better protect America’s critical infrastructure, it’s economy, and it’s citizens.  Far from the wild cries of the extreme wings on both sides, this presentation proposes actionable and affordable solutions to current and future risks that American businesses face.

The Security Risks and Rewards of Outsourcing--  Beyond the hot-button issue of loss of American jobs to lower cost countries, there are real issues surrounding the security, privacy, and accountability of data as it’s processed abroad.  Since companies can’t outsource their liabilities when they outsource their call centers, data-processing, or development, it’s critical that all parties fully understand the full costs of managing the new risks of outsourcing around the world today.  This one hour discussion presents unbiased facts, rules, regulations, trends and real life stories of the security implications of outsourcing outside of America.

Please note that Specific and Customized speeches of variable length are available on request.  Time and distance are not factors.
